Maga Bo Remixed

L’excellent nouvel album de Maga Bo qui revisite une large variété de rythmes brésiliens a été remixé par plein d’excellents producteurs d’un peu partout sur la planète. Le projet a été soutenu et financé sur Kickstarter et le résultat est largement à la hauteur. Session d’écoute ci-dessous + n’hésitez pas à dépenser quelques $$$

Quilombo de Musica Linda

Maga Bo has been a long time friend of Masala. If I recall correctly he was, after Paul Devro, our second guest at the Baile MTL parties which later turned into Masala Sono. That was in December 2006 and I remember his set at that time as being one of the best I’ve heard in my life (and it’s still up there). Since then Mr Bo haven’t stop making great music and great mixes, he came back to Montreal a couple years later to promote his album, and now is time for a brand new album called Quilombo Do Futuro. The album is almost done and was just lacking some financial back-up to get the ball rolling, hence a kickstarter project that successfully reached its goal a few days ago. BUT! There’s still time (33h as I write this) for you to help out Maga Bo and pledge support on his project (see video below), until the release, please enjoy another fantastic mix that he crafter for Beyond Digital.

Nouveau Ep pour Maga Bo le globe trotter

Le globetrotter basé à Rio de Janeiro Maga bo, que nous avons invité à plusieurs reprises à Montréal livre deux excellentes tracks pour le label Senseless records basé à Londres. Enregistré à Addis Ababa en Ethiopie, ces deux morceaux examplifie parfaitement comment Bo arrive à méler sons électroniques de son cru et instruments traditionels avec un naturel incroyable. Les deux mondes s’intégrent parfaitement et laissent loin derrière les juxtapositions erratiques que l’on entend trop souvent dans le “world beat” habituel. Indris Hassan joue du Masinqo sur le morceau Ransom alors que Eritbu “Solomon” Agegnehu chante une chanson traditionelle des Azmari sur le morceau Gondar (voir la video DIY plus bas). Bo a commandé une série de remix qui complète cette sortie où les pièces originales sont clairement les meilleures.

Notre bon ami Maga Bo vient de poster une toute nouvelle mixtape sur son blog il y a quelques jours. Elle est pleine de sons inédits, qui sortiront bientôt ou des versions exclusives!
