Mr OK continue à sortir bombe sur bombe et entame bien l’année avec un bootleg du Bonfire de Chidish Gambino. On aura bientôt des news pour vous sur la sortie du prochain EP mais d’ici là enjoy!

Masalacism + Mr OK = MTL/Haiti connection

Vous l’avez peut-être entendu dans l’émission ou lu sur notre twitter, notre page Facebook, même dans le dernier Ghetto Palms du FADER, ou peut-être pas, mais dans tous les cas on vous annonce ici que Masala ajoute une nouvelle corde à son arc en lançant un label digital baptisé Masalacism!

Première sortie sur cette nouvelle extention de nous-mêmes, notre bras armé promotionel, Mr OK avec le EP 5 titres Men Mwen. Mr OK est parti de Port-Au-Prince l’année dernière pour venir s’installer à Montréal et nous l’avons rencontré lors du Masala Sono pour Haïti en janvier dernier. Ce soir là, il fait aussi la connaissance de Freeworm et quelques mois plus tard nous voilà tous réunis autour de ce premier opus officiel, pour lui comme pour nous! Les morceaux ont été produits entre Haïti et le Canada par Benkele à Port-Au-Prince et Freeworm à Montréal. Notre ami Chief Boima nous a offert un excellent remix pour faire bonne mesure. Le EP sera en vente le mardi 8 Juin dans différents magasins en ligne! Mettez votre porte-monnaie là où sont vos écouteurs. You might already have heard it on the radio show or read on our twitter, our Facebook page, or even in the last Ghetto Palms of FADER, or you might not, in any case we’re officially announcing that Masala is extending and is starting a new digital label named Masalacism!

The first release is Mr OK with the 5 tracks EP Men Mwen. Mr OK left Port-Au-Prince for Montreal last year and we met him at the Masala Sono fundraiser for Haiti last january. That night, he freestyled on one of Freeworm’s beat and a few months later Masala is putting out this 1st official release! The tracks were produced between Haïti and Canada by Benkele in Port-Au-Prince and Freeworm in Montréal. Our friend Chief Boima from California offered us a great remix too! The EP will go on sale on tuesday June 8th in different on-line stores! Put your wallet where your headphones are if I may say. Il n’y a pas mieux que la joie un peu triste de la musique haitïenne pour évoquer le chemin à prendre vers la reconstruction après le drame terrible qui a eu lieu hier à Port-Au-Prince, Haïti. Pour ceux qui n’iront pas aider directement sur place, il y a peu de choses à faire, à part donner un peu d’argent à des organismes reconnus, susceptibles d’en tirer le meilleur. C’est pourquoi, à MASALA, on vous dirige vers le site de la Croix Rouge Canadienne et on envoie, à notre manière, nos pensées et notre fraternité aux gens de la perle des Antilles.

There’s no better way than the joyful (yet a bit sad) music of Haiti to suggest the path that leads to reconstruction after the terrible events that happened yesterday in Port-Au-Prince. For those who won’t go there to help, there’s only a few options left, one of them being to give money to recognized NGOs that will use it in the best manner. This is why, at MASALA, we suggest that you donate to your local Red Cross organization and we also send our thoughts and fraternity to the people of ‘La Perle des Antilles’ by sharing some of their music with you.

Cet événement tragique arrive aussi au moment où deux d’entre-nous (Etienne et Benoit) s’apprêtaient à partir pour Haiti pour suivre le carnaval. Benoit a d’ailleurs consacré le début de la dernière émission aux nouveautés en provenance de l’île.

C’est définitivement un de mes morceaux préférés des derniers temps, j’aime l’énergie du morceau dès le début et c’est pour ça que je l’ai mit dans ma collection printemps 2009. Paluck en a joué aussi dans le dernier Masala. Le flow des gars me fait penser à celui de Boogat.
