We’ve been supporting Zuzuka Poderosa and Dj Rekha for years over here in Montreal. I actually brought them both to town 2 years ago (Jan & April 2009) and it’s awesome to see them work together on a track. Not sure when this is released, but it should be soon! You can get more info on the track in a recent Ghetto Palms’s column.
Zuzuka is on the rise right now thanks to a very dynamic and positive team around her and we can’t wait for her collabo with Sonora from Austin. Talking about Austin, if you’re going to SXSW in a couple weeks watch out for some massive nights during the fest courtesy of Orion and friends. As a matter of fact, if you follow the “”tropical”" (yes 2 quotes) scene, you should definitely consider going. I know Zuzuka will be there.
Check out the video interview we did with Rekha 3 years ago:
Ok, we are a little bit late to put that show online and we are really sorry about it because this one is really HOT! We had the chance to received in our studio our friend DJ Comrade from XAO Production (New York) and he have performed an incredible live MPC performance with some exclusive tracks and remix (i.e. The Very Best, Uproot Andy…) that will be release soon! Check this out, 30 minutes of hot new Baile Funk!
Also, Jeune Premier made a special mix for Boogat’s first Nuvo Tumbao party just after my special of the best south african house music of the moment.

Happy Song Ft Tira & Big Nuz
Very big track by Prophex from NYC which ends a long process of music mixing in this song which has elements of Jerk, Baile Funk and Kuduro of course, with Spanish rap. The best example of a Masala track! When you think about it, it’s a fantastic journey from Angola, through Portugal, then France, which brings Major Labels to release the shitty collaboration between Lucenso and Don Omar, which definitely implemented Kuduro in the latin american sonic soundscape. A long journey indeed and that’s the latest step. Masala likes this a lot, probably track of the month.
