Woa! Already one week without any post here! Well you should know that Benoit got some very serious problems with his laptop and therefore posting here wasn’t in his top priorities. So before Ben or JP announce their saturday’s upcoming night in MTL called Masala Sono#1, I wanted to let you know that our friend Poirier just released a new EP!! It showcase his take on Dancehall and it’s really good as you can hear it! The one I like the most is the one with YT, but we will only share Enemies here. For the other track, go buy the EP and support the artist on Itunes or on Juno (UK)

Funkété Culo Shakers – Aug 21

Benoit et moi somment les invités de la cinquième édition de Funkété qui aura lieu ce vendredi, ici à Toronto. Funkété c’est la soirée de Sergio Elmir, l’homme derrière l’excellente émission Dos Mundos Radio qui se concentre sur les nouvelles musiques latines et plus particulièrement sur les nouvelles tendances en Cumbia. Sergio est aussi derrière le groupe de Cumbia Expérimentale (Doombia!) Huelepaga Sound System. Mais pour revenir à Funkété, Uproot Andy, Toy Selectah, Geko Jones y ont déjà joué et Ben et moi sommes trés enthousiastes à l’idée de faire shaker les culos comme le dit le flyer. Histoire de souligner ça, Bendude a enregister un mini-mix pour l’émission de radio à laquelle j’ai participé hier et je voulais partager quelques morceaux de Cumbia Warachera, ce style de Cumbia electronique du Nord-Ouest du Mexique s’inspirant des musiques Norteño.

Dos Mundos – Funkété Calentamiento by bendude

Benoit and myself are the guest of the 5th edition of Funkété which happens this friday in Toronto. Funkété is Sergio Elmir‘s night. He’s the man behind the great Dos Mundos Radio show which focus on new latin music and especially on new trends in Cumbia. Sergio is also the man behind the experimental cumbia band(Doombia!) Huelepaga Sound System. But to come back to Funkété, Uproot Andy, Toy Selectah, Geko Jones already played the party and we’re very happy to be invited to make the culos shake like the flyer says. In order to celebrate this event, Bendude recorded a mini-mix for the Dos Mundos radio show yesterday. I also went in studio for an interview and an improvised mini-mix with lots of Cumbia Warachera. And I wanted to give away some tracks of this very particular style of electronic cumbia from North-West Mexico which is inspired by Mexican Norteño music.

Coco Taxi de Stockholm en Suède vient de nous envoyer ce remix ce matin et j’ai voulu le poster car il sort vraiment du lot de remix rave electro qui ont noyé cette track Mambo de Maluca. La dance music s’est pas seulement pour gobber des cachets! Faut arrêter ça les mecs. En tout cas, j’aime bien cette approche mi-tempo et dancehall alors écoutez ça et aller faire un tour sur la page myspace de Coco Taxi.
