Appelez-moi “ostie de français qui prend pas le froid” mais des températures de -15°c la nuit à la mi-novembre ça me, comme qui dirait, refroidit. Mon troisième hiver au Québec s’en vient et une fois de plus je me demande comment je vais passer à travers, moi qui n’aime pas vraiment ni la gadoue, ni les grands froids qui vous gèlent les pieds et les doigts. J’aime pas ça mettre les grosses chaussures d’hiver et les manteaux énormes qu’est-ce que tu veux… Bref, ça se refroidit ici et en mixant un peu pour m’amuser tout à l’heure, j’en suis arrivé à ce tracklisting qui, je le pense bien, et comme une réaction à mon environnement. J’ai envi de chaleur ça à l’air. Je vous met des photos de mon quartier sous la neige datant de mars 2008.

Zurita en tu Cabeza!

Vous vous souvenez de Cabeza! ce label en ligne d’argentine qui nous avez gratifié de deux compilations de mash-up cumbia/hip-hop/dancehall/electro? Et bien le troisième opus est sorti récemment et il vaut vraiment quelques minutes de votre attention. Aux commandes, le remixer Zurita de San Telmo qui propose 7 titres de très honorable facture avec un peu de Das Efx, de Calle 13, de Method Man, mashé avec un morceau à l’ambiance très tropicale, sur le deuxième morceau et une cumbia villera pour El Gigante Del Style. Mais ce que j’ai sorti du EP c’est un remix du Informer de Snow, mashé avec du Shaggy, de la cumbia, le bam bam riddim et un beat reggaeton entre autre. Excellent morceaux de party!

(En Ingles) Remembre the online label from Argentina called Cabeza! who gave us two compilations of mash-up of Cumbia/hip-hop/dancehall/electro? Well the 3rd effort just got released and it really deserved your attention! It’s 7 good tracks from remixer Zurita with a little bit of DasEFX, Calle 13, Method Man and others, mashed with some tropical cumbia (track 2) or some cumbia villera on El Gigante Del Style. But what I extracted from the EP for you is a remix of Informer by Snow, clashed with Shaggy and the Bam Bam riddim and some cumbia and a reggaeton beat over the top. Great party track!

J’ai aussi vraiment apprécié l’utilisation du sample de Daft Punk sur ce morceau!
I also really liked how he used that Daft Punk sample in this track!

Tigerstyle released Mystics, Martyrs and Maharajas

Tigerstyle‘s long waited full lenght dropped earlier this month. It’s available on digital download on their webstire : www.nachural.co.uk. 17 tracks, pretty much all new material except a couple songs. You may have already heard Sinden’s Balle!Shava! remix on the Masala radio show or elsewhere before, but there is way more than 130bpm electro here. It’s a pretty diverse range of beats and production instead. Vybz Kartel is definitly a plus for one of the best track of the album. You’ll find a track with a spanish mc and a bhangra beat structered as a reggaeton beat. There’s a lot of r’n'b/garage female singing on the album that I dislike but I guess that’s what’s up when you live in the UK and want to do music for clubs. But there’s also some serious dancefloor oriented music. Instead of Sinden’s remix, I would rather go with that track which should definitly get people’s reactions with it’s heavy bassy kick drum and happy arrangements.

Also download Tigerstyle’s remix of Labh Janjua’s Billo Tere Nakreh thanks to Palms Out Sounds. Really good remix! And for those of you who want more cutting edge indian urban music, I would suggest to check out the friction radio show on BBC; always some good stuff. Oh and did I mention bhangra bassline? More bhangra coming up, stay tune.

Dancehall Do Brasil

Il y a quelques jours Maga Bo a posté sur son blog une mixtape appellée Dancehall Brasil. Compilée par Jimmy Luv de Sao Paulo, elle dure 59 minutes et comprend 34 morceaux qui présentent un large spectre d’artistes reggae/dancehall brésiliens, qui chantent et rappent en portuguais. Je peux pas dire que c’est la meilleure chose que j’ai entendu, mais il y a quelques bonnes tracks. Vous pouvez la télécharger directement ici.
Voici certains morceaux que j’ai aimé et que j’ai réussi à trouver sur internet. Désolé pour la qualité, cette musique n’est pas si facile à dénicher.

A few days ago, Maga Bo posted a mixtape called Dancehall Brasil on his blog. Compiled by Jimmy Luv from Sao Paulo, it’s a 59′ / 34 tracks mix that present the large spectrum of different reggae/dancehall artists from Brasil, who are singing and rapping in portuguese. Can’t say it’s the best thing i’ve heard but there’s some pretty decent tracks on there. You can download it directly here.
Here’s a few tracks that I liked and that I was able to find on the internet. Sorry for the quality of these tracks, but this music is not so easy to find.
